Shri. Venkateshwarlu, Joint Transport Commissioner, Hyderabad Road Transport Authority, has officially launched India's FIRST Online Sample Drivers License practice test website (DrivingTest.in) on 14th October 2009 at News Services Syndicate, Hyderabad. This website contains the Driving Test Track pictures and procedures as well.
 
Age Limit for Obtaining a Driving Licenc
Motor Cycles without Gear  - 16 Yrs & Above
Motor Cycles with Gear - 18 Yrs & Above
Private Light Motor Vehicles - 18 Yrs & Above
Transport Vehicles - 20 Yrs & Above
 
How to get Learner’s/Learning Driving Licence ?
Requirements :
 Application in Form 2, 1 & 1A(in case of the age being 40 Yrs and above).

Address Proof and Identity Proof. Any one of the following :Passport, Voter ID, Ration Card, Telephone Bill,    House Tax Receipt, LIC Policy etc.

Applicant should appear in person for the test.

If passed, will be issued a Learning Licence (LLR) on the same day.
Fee Details:
For a Single Category of Vehicle  - Rs.60/-
For two Categories of Vehicles - Rs.90/-
The test contains multiple choice questions about Traffic Signs and Rules of Road Regulations. The test contains 20 questions and one has to answer atleast 16 questions correctly to pass the test. Re-test can be scheduled by paying a fee of Rs.30/-
How to get Permanent Driving Licence ?
Requirements :
Application in Form 4.
Original Valid Learner’s Licence (More than 30 days old)
Certificate in Form 5 from any Government recognised Driving School if the application is for a Transport Vehicle endorsement.
Applicant should appear in person for the test with respective class of Vehicle and undergo test before the Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) and Pass.
Applicant should bring his own vehicle for test along with valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) Certificate and Insurance Certificate.
How to get International Driving Permit (IDP)?
Requirements :
Application in Form 4 A.
Original & Photo Copies of Passport and Visa.
Indian driving Licence : Original & Photo Copy
Applicant should be present in person though there would be no driving Test.
Note : If the Driving Licence is not obtained from the same RTA where the application for International Driving Permit is being made, Form – DDL along with address proof and a fee of Rs.315 may be made
to obtain a Duplicate Driving Licence.
Fee Details:
International Driving Permit (IDP) - Rs.500/-
Service Charges - Rs.150/-
Hologram(Where applicable) - Rs.2/-
Total - Rs.652/-
How to get Driving Licence Renewed?
Requirements :
 Application in Form 9

Original Driving Licence

Form 1 for Self declaration

In case of Transport licence and person above the age of 50 years Medical Certificate in Form 1A.
 
Fee Details:
Renewal Fee of Licence - Rs.200/-
Service charges - Rs.150/-
Hologram (Where applicable) - Rs.1/-
Note :
Late Renewal fee Rs.100/- for the first year of the expiry Rs.50/- for every year thereafter.

Re-Test fee of Rs.50/- for each class of Vehicle.
 
How to get your vehicle transferred ( Transfer Of Vehicle)?
Requirements :
Application in Form 29 in duplicate with sellers signatures.
Sellers & Buyers Signatures in Form 30.
If the vehicle is financed then, signature of the financier.
Original Registration Certificate.
Pollution Under Control (PUC) Certificate.
Insurance Certificate
Buyers Address Proof . Any one of the following : Passport, Telephone Bill, Current Bill, House Tax Receipt, LIC Policy, Voter ID Card.
FEE :
Motor Cycle : Transfer Fee : Rs.30/-
    Service Charge : Rs.100/-
    Hologram : Rs.1/-
Motor Car : Transfer Fee : Rs.100/-
    Service charge : Rs.200/-
    Hologram : Rs.1/-
Note :
If the vehicle to be Transferred is financed then an additional Rs.100/- would be charged.
If the Transfer has not been performed within 14 days, then the following charges would be applicable
Upto 3 months : Rs.25/-
Upto 6 months : Rs.50/-
Upto 9 months : Rs.75/-
Upto 1 year & above : Rs.100/-
